 THE CLOCKTOWER STUDIO The original rooflines of the old Highgate Works builders yard, half a mile south of the two Forest Row roundabouts, have been retained in a complete rebuilding of the old timber structures that survived for most of the twentieth century. The building with the most history, the office/workshop, now known as “The Clocktower Studio” is the refurbished lower floor of a Victorian stable, the hayloft area of which is now surmounted by a bronze and gilded clock and a weathervane. It is rated by the Wealden Council for B1 use, that is office/light industrial. The rates are lower on the clocktower studio because it is not a brand new building. The rates on the new buildings are £76 per sq metre. The rates for the stable block are only £37.50 per sq metre. The internal decoration however, will be to the same high standards. The accommodation represents exceptional value.
